Any thoughts on costs to replace the timing chain in a 2018 Lincoln Navigator Reserve?

I am getting a cost estimateby a local mechanic with a good reputation of nearly $6500 to replace the Timing Chain & Components along with the Water Pump. Labor costs are over $3,000 with parts an additional $3,500

I thought this seemed a bit high, but I'm not sure.

Can anyone hep with a price estimate?

I'm not as familiar with the ecoboost engines as I am with the V8 modular engines but $3,500 in parts for basically a timing chain set, a water pump and perhaps some gaskets seems high by a significant factor. I would advise requesting a parts list and cross-shopping to verify. Labor costs vary significantly based on geographic location but you can compare hourly rates by calling different local shops.

I can only relate to the water pump replacement which I recall paying approximately $800 parts and labor a couple years ago.

Here is the list and close cost for your parts. How many miles do you have on your 2018? I’m at 95K right now. I’m may do turbos and down pipes when I do the timing stuff.

Good info!

I have seen examples of several of the individual component failures over the past few years, some first hand. This pretty much supports the OP's original question. (y)

For my Nav it was $4,133.17, just for the cam phasers at the dealership. I'm not sure what else they had to do to it.
