Telematic Control Unit (TCU) just updated

Yes I tried that and not better, Google still yelling at me right now (I made a test while parked).
The new reboot procedure after the update is now to press the button 5 times in 7 seconds. Holding it is not working anymore after the update.
Ours still does the restart with the 10 second push.

Lincoln is a mystery when it comes to timing of OTA to any given vehicle. We definitely don't have the update related to the new information widgets (compass and second clock widget). The first update we've gotten since our June '25 Nautilus purchase was ECG 24.2.5.7, OTA on 9/8, while '24 owners started reporting the update at the beginning of April. Perhaps they queue the '24s first, then start on the '25s?

Our '25 Reserve II just got an update with the name ECG-25.2.8.4.1.

Says it's for the Central Computer and provides ore seamless interaction with network services. It also says it will send a notification if a window's one-touch feature is lost and will provide instructions how to restore the function yourself.

Other than an update that showed when we first got the car in March, I haven't seen any evidence of some of the updates discussed in this forum. We still don't have the additional widgets for the wide screen.

I got the widgets when I had the dealer installed a TSB update done. I am not sure if a later OTA update included them.

I can't recommend it, but you could just try removing fuse F8, which provides power to the TCU, and to no other modules. Otherwise, the module is located behind the rear left wheel.

I'd be leery of disconnecting the TCU. It's used related to signing in to Google Automotive Services (GAS), core apps used in the vehicle (which has an infotainment system based on Google's AAOS).

Basic things like the vehicle's clock, Maps updates, weather info, etc. use the TCU

Apparently it may also play in handling automated alerts sent out in the event of an accident.

(Google has pretty frequent updates to their software, various of their apps and service frameworks. Those are things you want to receive.)

I just noticed he's asking about a 2018 MKZ. Please ignore my comment about the fuse.

I'm on phone, so the person's model/year don't show.

My error, as the overall thread was posts by new generation Nautilus people.

On another forum there's a thread about someone updating their older Lincoln TCU with a 4G modem that cost $75 plus some FORscan work.
