Sound of gas sloshing in gas tank

I have a brand new aviator (my second one). Does anyobe else hear what I am assuming is gas sloshing around in the tank when braking to a stop?

That's probably not gas. Check your spare tire wheelwell and see if there is water sitting in there. Water enters thru a bad seal for the rear taillights. Been an issue for Aviators for awhile. Your rear lights might stop working too. I'm not sure why Lincoln doesn't fix it.

Before we bought the one we have, we test drove one, and I did notice the rear left taillight had moisture/water beads in it. I mentioned it to the dealer, and they didn't offer any fix. Now reading this, i'm glad we passed on that one, would hate to have to argue with them about water getting in, especially after they were aware of the issue and didn't want to address it.

Supposedly from what I read, its an assembly issue and not an engineering issue. If the taillights are forced on or if the gasket isn't aligned, it leaks. Most Aviator's lights are put on correctly and don't leak. Easy fix would be for Lincoln to drill a tiny drain hole underneath each taillight....but that would cost another nickel.

Is the new Aviator the 2020 that shows in your profile or is that your previous one? I had a 2020 and didn't have any sloshing noises or water in the taillamps.

Sorry for my quick post few days ago. I read the water doesn't collect in the taillamps. Water gets thru a loose or misaligned taillamp gasket, then drips down the back of the taillamp, which gets the wiring wet, then forms a puddle on the frame, then it leaks into the interior and winds up at the lowest point which is usually the spare tire well.

Thank you for the info. There is no collection of water in the spare tire well. I think the aviator just has a lot off noises compared to my other Lincoln’s I’ve owned. And noisy undercarriage over bumps too. Unfortunately.

My previous 2020 Aviator was quiet and so is my current 2023. Absolutely no noises going over bumps or rough roads.

I have a ‘25 Aviator moving from a Lincoln. The gas sloshing noise is driving me crazy. Did you find a resolution?

I also have a 2025 Lincoln Aviator but have not noticed any "sloshing" sounds from the fuel tank.

No, I guess I’ve accepted it. I still mostly hear in the 3/4 tank range…

I have a 2025 Lincoln aviator and it makes clonking, banging sounds when driving at slow speeds, like moving forward slowly in bumper to bumper traffic or reversing to park. Its quite loud sometimes and disturbing.

I also have a 2025 and previously a 2020 and 2023. I have yet to hear the 'splashing' sound. Are you sure that what you are hearing isn't a shield of some sort? There have been reports of some protective shields causing issues. I believe there is one to protect the fuel tank.

I dont know what it could be. The dealership says its the fuel sloshing around but its loud at times and immaculate thay I can feel the impact on top of the center compartment storage and arm rest
