Can anyone tell me if and when the 302 in Licoln Town Car had roller cams getting ready to do shorty headers and exhaust but was thinking cam change and cobra intake if my 88 was possibly roller cam motor. Some searching on the net some say yes some no...... who better to ask than the Lincoln people.

This site: http://www.american-automobile.com/Erson ford.pdf says this: "1985-95 302 Ford engines were equipped with hydraulic roller valve trains. These blocks have taller lifter bores than 1962-84 blocks."

The 1992 Mark VII and the Thunderbird and the Mustang have roller tappets according to the 1992 FLM Service manual. See attached document.

This site: http://www.americanmuscle.com/ford-hydrollerlifter-8695.html offers replacement roller tappets for the 302 from 1986 to 1995 which supports the 1988 302 in the Town Car being a roller tappet engine.

This site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Windsor_engine says the same thing roller tappets introduced in 1985 on some 302 engines and in 1986 all 302 were fitted with roller tappets.

Hope this helps answer your question.

Good luck with your future modifications.
