Remove gas pedal - instructions? how hard?

I have a squeak when I press the gas pedal, I tried lubing with silicone spray but it didn't help, so next I will replace it.

Can anyone share the instructions on how to do so? Is it hard? Do I access fasteners from under the dash or behind the engine? Thx

Most installations the pedal assembly is installed from the passenger compartment.
There are two studs
Nuts need to be removed from the studs
But remove the wire harness first.

I have not removed a pedal assemly from anything newer than a 96 Lincoln. That did not have any electronics.

Rather than silicone, use some Kroil or WD-40 and pump the hell out of the pedal, get up in there with the straw assembly from the nozzle of the can if need be... The worst that can happen is you have the smell of penetrating oil in the car for a few hours. Good luck.

I'm lazy so I gave it a shot of an oil-based lubricant. Fingers crossed LOL.

OK so an update. I sprayed it again with some lube and then did some testing on range of motion, does it squeak when all the way back versus forward, etc.

Here's the bizarre thing... I can get it to squeak when the car is running and in gear but I can't get it to squeak when turned off. It squeaks at at specific point in the pedal travel and doesn't matter if I have the pedals moved all the way back or forward or in between.

This is quite odd. Why would it squeak while running in gear but not otherwise?

Update I got a pedal from the junkyard for $20, I’ll try swapping it in and see what happens. They just happened to have the same year and trim Town Car.

You might lube that. And not a wet lube. (Like WD40)
Something like spray graphite or an electrical contact spray
