I know price increases are bad all over. However, I’m wondering if any MKZ (2019?) owners have been told that the mkz has recently had adjusted “ratings” affecting insurance cost. And does anyone know what that could mean?? Thanks for any info.

Hi jay52. I live in NJ, and there has been no ratings adjustment for the 2018 MKZ 3.0T on my policy. And there were no appreciable changes to the MKZ between 2017 and the end of production after the 2020 model year.

Good luck.

As I continue to shop for my next victim, I did notice a strange stray fact - about a third of 3.0 mkz's offered for sale have accidents listed, in varying severity but still seems high. Also while checking parts costs, I noticed there are a *lot* of cars in salvage yards.

I've also been surprised-but-not how few 17/18 3.0s have the drivers' package, haven't tried to correlate accidents to lack of the magic diff - yet. I do recall one fella at an autocross putting a Focus RS (same magic diff) into a light pole; at the time I figured as a FWD guy he might have expected something different when trying to "save it with the throttle".

For now I will hope my insurance company notices I don't generally make claims, well, beyond the occasional windshield...

On edit, we had a surprise when my wife replaced her (my) 200k mile '14 Focus ST with a new Maverick, and insurance rates went down...

Best,
- Jeff

Wow! Interesting data you provided.

I didn’t know any entity would decrease prices in the gouging age. I’ve had no claims ever so it seems to me that my company is just joy riding on the gouging bandwagon!

I’m sure it was just some lame hard to trace babble to try to justify gouging. I guess the last several years of talk of parts being so expensive, etc. has gotten old and they had to come up with something new. 🙄

Don’t know about that, but you shouldn’t incur any excessive charges for owning a luxury sedan
