Mkc battery disconnect

I have a 2015 mkc and need to disconnect the battery. I cannot figure out how to disconnect the cable that clicks into the negative battery terminal. I have found videos on putting it back but nothing on removing it....

If I remember right on the MKC you cannot get to the negative terminal unless you move the battery forward. It’s a job. I replaced the battery once on my sons 2018 MKC. You have to remove the air cleaner assembly and a metal plate in front of the battery.

If it is anything like the 2013-2019 Escape, (which the MKC is closely based on) the battery is mostly under the front lower end of the cowl. Fairly difficult to change. Poor design for sure.

Yes. If I remember you take out the air box assy. Like two bolts where it mounts in the front and one or two bolts under the air filter. Then pull up there’s a stud that goes into a rubber grommet. Then remove the holders of the wiring harness that connects it to the bottom of the metal plate in front of the battery. Then remove the bolts holding the metal plate and take it out. Now you can easily slide the battery forward.
