2023 Aviator
Looking at buying a 2023 Aviator (Jet Appearance) Reserve.

Any quality control issues related to this model and year? I seen lots of post about the 2020s being lemons. Did things improve after a couple years?

I'm a UAW Ford employee so I know quality has been reduced. I see it all the time. I'll stop the line atleast every week about quality issues and will get told by my superiors that "engineers and management know about it. They say to just keep the line running". And I'll watch hundreds of units go by with a defect to just maybe get fixed at the end of the line.

Any stories about 2023s?
I'm more so worried about mechanical issues. And or fit and finish issues that could cause water damage.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the Forum. 👋
I'm a low mileage driver and had no issues with my 2020 Aviator over the 4 years I had it nor my 2023 which only has a couple of thousand kilometres on it.

I just got a 2023 Grand Touring from my dad and he had no issues with it. It has 9200 miles on it. He decided he wanted a truck.

I have a 23' Reserve AWD with the Jet Package. It has over 16,000 almost trouble free miles. It was delivered with a defective Amplifier, which I attribute to the dealer not checking the car. The other complaint I had was with the 22" Goodyear Eagle Comfort tires, which frankly are crap. After changing the tires, we love the way our Aviator handles, rides and performs. We are also pleasantly surprised with the gas mileage.

If I were in the market for a new car, I would likely be buying another Aviator because there aren't any choices with the same performance and looks that aren't tens of thousands of dollars more expensive.

What tires did you get? Our 2022 has almost 39,000 on the Goodyears and I am starting to research replacements. Thanks

I replaced the wheels and tires with 18" Konig Oversteer wheels and Michelin Pilot 4 SUV summer tires. I did this because handling is most important to me and I eliminated around 120 lbs of unsprung weight. However, if I were replacing the Goodyears with 22" stock size tires, I would purchase Michelin A/S tires. There are several options. My choice would be the Cross Climates. Our Son and Daughter in law have them on their Subaru Ascent and really like them. Another option would be Continental DWS. Daughter and Son in law have them on their Expedition. Also check out TireRack for their ratings for all the tires in the category you are researching. I find their recomendations are spot on, though I have purchased a second or third choice due to the ratings that fit my driving better.

Thanks much. I had targeted the Continentals based on Tire Rack reviews/price/driving area, etc. Appreciate the feedback.
