My Lincoln
1998 Continental
Hello all,

I hope everyone is doing well. I've been looking around to see if I can find a water pump pulley for my 1998 Continental to no avail. I'm reaching out here to see if anyone would be able to source a spare one before I go to a junkyard. Part number is F8OZ8509AA. From what I can see it's discontinued everywhere I look.

Thank you!

Edit: I wanted to provide a link to the part on fordpartsgiant as well --> F8OZ-8509-AA - Genuine Lincoln Base No. #8509 Pulley - Water Pump

The 98 Continental had 4.6 4v engine
So did Mustang and Mark VIII

It will be a common part with many donors.
You would want the diameter from the old pulley.

If possible, the engineering number from the pulley as well.

Is it smooth on the outside diameter where the belt rides?

Action.

Thanks for the reply Action. So I don't have the old pulley itself on hand it's still in the car bent, but when I do I planned to measure it. It is not a smooth seating but a grooved one. In the meantime, here is a photo of what it looks like on the same engine from an eBay listing (I even messaged the seller for it but no luck).

The old pulley basically has part of one of the grooves bent over (maybe I can just.... bend it back?). I'll throw up a pic of that for good measure when it's out.

If the pulley is steel (likely), I'd recommend:
- a large vise
- a chisel
- a small hammer
- a file

You should be able to straighten a bent lip, but whatever damaged it could have bent the whole thing.

Good luck,
- Jeff

Hi everyone, wanted to provide an update.

I ended up finding a replacement one by some eBay luck. Got it shipped and fitted onto my vehicle.

New issue is that the left alternator mounting bolt snapped when putting it back on, and the piece is pretty deep in the socket. I'm thinking of just getting a shorter bolt from home depot and putting that in as a replacement. Any thoughts on that?

Also, has anyone noticed that those mounting bolts seem weak? I wasn't applying much torque to it and even had the upper bracket secured to keep some pressure off the bottom.

Anyway, hoping to have her running in a few days so we'll see what happens.

Steel bolts into an aluminum block, use anti-seize.
