My Lincoln
Aviator 2023
Hello everyone,

Glad to be a new member here.

I have just purchased an Aviator, and was told the Lincoln way app was banned here in Dubai. Apparently because it is like a “tracker”, but many other brands have these similar apps.

I have downloaded the app on my phone, but it cannot pair with the car as there is no Lincoln Way in it, or at least not activated or showing.

Would someone have managed to make it work? Or have an idea how to do it?

Thanks in advance.

I believe the dealer has to activate your vehicle within the system before the Lincoln Way app will recognize it. If the app is banned in Dubia you may not have any option for it to work.

The Lincoln Way App literally can tell where your car is at any moment in time, unless it's not activated or deactivated by someone who has stolen your car. I read today that Automakers sell this information, which may be purchased by different departments of governments. Unfortunately, there is so much information availabe on all of us that can be easily sold. Here in US, there is a bipartisan bill circulating in US Congress that our Federal Govt can't purchase this type of information collected from any site on US citizens. Interestingly, the article discussed many current uses by various organizations that are uses I never would have even considered possible. Believe it was in today's (March 9) WSJ.

Hi, thanks.

You mean the dealer where ever in the world can do it? Or it has to be input in the plant during manufacturing?

And I think it’s a brand / distributor issue. Jaguar has the app where you can remote start, track etc…

The dealer has to do it. I don’t know what the rules are but I think it is the Lincoln dealership where the vehicle was purchased.

Thanks. I’ll check with them soon and give an update here. Might be helpful for others.

Maybe a VPN on your phone to think it is connected via another country?

It’s likely that the cellular service for the vehicle, needed to connect everything up, isn’t available in Dubai. In other words, Lincoln/Ford have not paid for coverage for the vehicle there, so you can’t connect it to the app.

Thank you for tour answer.

That must be it. They say it’s because the app acts like a tracker and is banned.
Which is utter BS as, to only name them, Jaguar and BMW have perfectly working apps.

It is what it is

Would you know if there is a way to do it on my side? Thanks

Hello everyone,

The situation is the same in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Most major brands have similar offerings here, but the dealer has informed us that it is not permitted. By the way, we anticipate receiving our Aviator by the middle or end of next month. What are your thoughts on the vehicle?
