I recently purchased an 01 Continental with 140k. I love the power and luxury of this car!

The driver's seat will not move. The power switches on the drivers door appear to be dead. The power trunk release and the fuel door release don't work either. Nor does the switch on the drivers door to operate the power mirrors.

I have checked a couple of the main fuses and there do not appear to be any that are burned out.

Can anybody advise? It seems odd that all of these problems would be random, since the all originate from the drivers door. Any insights from more experienced Continental owners?

Thanks

While I didn't own the year and model of your car, I had this problem with my 2007 Town Car, Designer model. Within the driver's door was the Driver's Door Module. This controlled many functions including driver's seat operation, FOB remotes, outside mirror control, trunk release and some other functions. I knew what the problem was and posted my issue like you. But received bad advice--that's why I clearly stated I didn't own your year and make of car. Manufacturers change many features of their cars during production and then there are the yearly changes.

My advice, obtain a shop manual for your car like I had. It will list a testing procedure that dealerships use. If you're lucky, your repair will be less costly than mine was. Please update this subject when your car is repaired to share what failed.
