How do you like your Continental?

I am thinking of buying a used 2017 Continental Reserve. A bit concerned about Lincoln's reliability which in the past was poor. Are you happy with your Continental or is it the reliability factor disconcerting to you as well?

I have a 2017 Select coming from a 2006 Chrysler 300. Love the car, and have not had even any minor issues. I pamper the heck out of the car, but it still sees 100 mile daily commutes. Bought mine used in 2019 w/16k on the ODO. Just now passed 60k. My only complaints (just really small gripes) with the car are the difficulty in replacing the cabin filter and the I wish that the upper side bolsters of the front driver/passenger seats were adjustable or a little less "pronounced".

I had a 2017 Reserve. It was basically flawless. There were a couple of little things (seat memory for one) that was addressed under warranty within the first month of ownership. Otherwise, it was fine. If I recall correctly, there were some head gasket or maybe even cylinder head issues with some early 3.0 engines. I had no issue with mine but it would be something to be aware of.

My 2017 Reserve has been great so far. Although I'm disappointed the App on my phone no longer works. Don't really want to spend $400 to change the modem.

have had two (leased): 2017 with 2.7L was excellent until a deer hit it; the 2020 3.0L Reserve is even better. When second lease is up, I will not renew: will keep running my 03 XJ8.

Thanks to all. Appreciate it. I asked because my Lincoln MKS just died.

Mine has been excellent. Nearly 3 years of ownership; no bills. I could not have said that about any of my previous 6 Mercedes.

Do you have the 30 way adjustable seats? If not, that should remedy that concern for anyone considering this car. Most of us with a Black Label or Reserve with the included 30 way seats state its the most comfortable seat we've ever sat in!

I have a few less than 30 seat adjustments but it doesn't bother me. It certainly would not be a deal-breaker for me. Obviously, it wasn't.

The seats in my last 2 MKZ's weren't the 30 way, and they were still quite comfortable. I just asked because these 30 way seats in the Conti are the most comfortable I've ever experienced (and many other members have stated the same).

Anyone considering a new Conti should definitely look for that option, in my opinion. There are actually a few Black Label Conti's available for around $30k if you don't mind traveling to get them, or having them delivered by truck (about $600-1000 depending on location).

How's that XJ8 treated you? I've always wanted a Jag but that old quote "If you can't afford a Jaguar new, then you can't afford a Jaguar used" referencing the repair costs has always scared me away.

So far, so good! My third X308: all have been super. This one was garaged with only 16000 miles in the last 17 years -- the XJ8L was same length as the Continental with about the same HP/weight, why I went with the 2017. But the 2020 is coming off lease in a few months and I saw this nearly perfect Jag for under $10k with all parts, new tires, and battery. Will hold me after the lease until I see something I can't live without (Defender?). But . . . I will miss the 400hp (I use 93 octane).

Still . . . with any car twenty years old, you hold your breath . . . and unlike an Accord, some parts (mostly plastics) are becoming rare.

I have a 2017 Reserve AWD really loaded. Very pleased with it.

Very good point. I hope the XJ treats you well.

I have a 2017 Reserve.....amazing car. Great experience. I would still get a warranty though.

I just bought a 2020 CPO'd select w/ 12k miles, had to have it shipped. My 2013 MKS is quieter, despite being the same engine, I hear quite a bit from the engine and lots of road noise, but I changed the tires to Goodyear comfortdrive and that helped the road noise a little and made the ride softer. The tires it came with were the Goodyear assym. and possibly rotated wrong and I saw a patch in the sidewall. And this in a CPO'd car. Nevertheless I hear lots of sounds from the engine relative to the MKS (which only has 25kmi). The side bolsters in the standard's seats are non adjustable and far too aggressive, very uncomfortable. I would like to remove them, both upper and lower. In fact I think the seats are, for me, worse than in the MKS (which are fine in any position , similar to a Volvo S80). Regret the decision based on intrusive noises and the seats. I realize I got a Standard. Oddly enough I find the vinyl looks and feels great, and interior looks great as does the exterior, beautiful. I have not taken it to the local dealer's service dept yet, but a salesman I know there drove it and said, that's the way they sound. Of course, the moral is, on a used car (even CPO'd), drive it first, which I did not do. As it is now, I don't want the car. Just my experience in buying a base/standard over the internet without driving it first. I would love to rip the plastic bolsters out. Not really happy obviously.

The engine noise is pumped in. Actually can be removed via OBD but would also remove the noise cancellation.

That explains why I hear wierd stuff. I don't hear any noise cancellation lol, just addition.

Which explains why the 2011 Buick Lucerne I test drove at Carmax was quieter (yes it was actually moving down the road with the engine running lol).

You will hear more engine noise when using sport mode and that is by design. You shouldn't hear as much in Comfort mode. I assume you have the base 3.7 engine? It may be a bit noisier than the 2.7 or 3.0 twin turbo engines. Road noise is often dependent on tire choice. I had Michelins on my Continental and they were pretty quiet. However, I don't think the Continental is exactly stellar in terms of a quiet ride regardless of trim package or tire selection.
