• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "1998 Town Car" isn't going to indicate to anybody that you need help. However, "Need help with my 1998 Town Car" will. Be as descriptive as you can. Please use common sense... I recently picked up a 97 Continental. Probably a couple weeks ago. it runs and drives great. Has 160,000 miles on it. So far it hasn't had any issues at all until yesterday on my way to work. I stopped at the store and when I came out my car started right up like always, I shifted into reverse and it seemed like it shifted. I felt it shift but the car would not move. It just revved. I tried drive and the low gears and reverse again and I could feel it shifting every time but would not go anywhere. I shut the car off and started it again and it had the same issues. I had it in drive and it eventually jerked really bad and started to move. It shifted through all gears fine after that and moved in all of them and shifted fine while driving as well. When I got it I ran through and checked all the fluids as I always do when I get a new/used car. The transmission fluid was a little low so I topped it off and checked it every day after that to see if it was leaking and it didn't seem to be. It has been a few days since I last checked it so I do plan to do that in the morning. Any suggestions or ideas on what might be going on with my transmission?

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. Sorry to hear about the shifting issue. I'm not very techy so I'll leave the answers up to anyone here who may have had the same experience...
