Any setting that will prevents headlights from coming on automatically ever time I start Aviator?

Does the owners manual say anything about this?

Any resolution on this?

Hi jc. If you are discussing the actual headlights...turn the headlight switch to the "Off" position. It is likely set to the "Auto" position right now (both as mentioned above).

If you are discussing the LED/DRL lights...you can enable/disable them through the Driver Information Center. You can either play with the settings yourself to learn the many features, or check the Owners Manual for the instructions on what buttons to press and settings to choose to disable the DRL's. However, if you live in Canada, the ability to disable the DRL's may not be available, since they are required by law.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

Thanks for all the suggestions folks. The issue is the full headlamps come on each time I start the vehicle. I have not driven the vehicle since the weekend because this week we have had a bunch of snow here in NH and yes I am pampering the Aviator and intend to do so for a while. It certainly deserves the pampering. This weekend I expect to take it out and will pull out the manual and play around with the settings.

Thanks again.

Hi jc. If your issue is the "full headlamps" are coming on each time you start the vehicle (even in daylight?), then the most likely situation is that the headlight switch/knob is set to "AUTO". Just rotate the switch/knob to the "OFF" position. Then you will need to turn them on/off manually each time you need them.

However, if they are even coming on in broad daylight, then there may be some other issue. Three examples would be:
1 - You have the headlight switch in the "On" position already...and they are being turned off by the battery management system after you have turned off the car. Then they come on again when you start the car.
2 - There could be a problem with the ambient light sensor on the dashboard. Perhaps you have something covering it?
3 - There is some other issue with the AUTO Headlamps that may need diagnosis and repair.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

Jack, I bet if you're "Pampering" her, especially in wintery NH, she's safely tucked in the garage, yes? So, you get in, push the start button, she comes to life, and the lights come on. This results from the sensors accurately reading the darkness in your garage and lighting up.

If this is the case, there's nothing to do as the auto headlamps are working properly. As you pull her out of the garage into daylight, they should go off.
