My Lincoln
2021 Corsair
Both folding mirrors will fold in when pushing the button or when locking the door. Problem is only the passenger side will unfold when pushing the button or automatically when unlocking the doors. I have to manually open the one on the driver's side. Any suggestions other than taking it to the dealership?

Thanks

Hi Kenneth L and welcome to the Lincoln Forums. There is a reset procedure for the power folding mirrors listed in the Owners Manual. Look in the Index under "Mirrors" to find the correct pages in your copy. Try that and hopefully it will fix this issue.

If not...While many owners hate to hear this, while your vehicle is still within the 4 year/50,000 mile New Vehicle Warranty, the best course of action is to schedule a service appointment and let the issue be properly diagnosed and corrected.

Any self-help measures often wind up being temporary band-aids, which sometimes coincidentally, only last just long enough for the 4 year/50,000 mile New Vehicle Warranty to run out. Then we have to pay out of pocket for repairs.

So my best advice would be: If the power folding mirror reset procedure in the Owners Manual does not correct the issue, schedule a service appointment and let the Dealer take care of this next time you have your vehicle in for service. And don't try any other self help remedies.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

I use the auto folding button every day. When I push it both mirrors fold in. When I push it again to unfold them only try passenger side one will unfold and not the driver’s side unless I manually do it. All my owners manual says is to use this button to reset it. Is that it? If so it doesn’t work since I use this every day.

Hi Kenneth. What my Owners Manual states is the following for resetting the power folding mirrors:

"If your power-folding mirrors are manually
folded, they may not work properly even
after you re-position them. You need to reset
them if:
• The mirrors vibrate when you drive.
• The mirrors feel loose.
• The mirrors do not stay in the folded or
unfolded position.
• One of the mirrors is not in its normal
driving position.
To reset the power-fold feature, use the
power-folding mirror control to fold and
unfold the mirrors. You may hear a loud noise
as you reset the power-folding mirrors. This
sound is normal. Repeat this process as
needed each time the mirrors are manually
folded."

If yours states the same and that does not correct the situation, or is different and still did not work, then you should schedule a service appointment at your earliest convenience.

Again, I would advise against other types of self-help fixes, like battery disconnects etc., since they can wind up temporarily masking a larger underlying issue, and the Service Department can not properly diagnose and fix something that is temporarily working when they are looking at it.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

Hi Kenneth. Also, did you purchase your Corsair new or used? When did this issue begin? Did the mirrors ever work correctly? If yes, when did this issue begin?

And if you are using the power folding mirrors every day anyway, why don't you enable the automatic folding setting, so you don't need to do it manually? See if they work properly with the Auto setting enabled.

Get back to us and good luck.

I bought the Corsair new. This one particular mirror only started doing this after my last service appointment for something unrelated. I have to use the auto folding button every day to park in the garage where I live. It is a right fit and it is just easier to fold the mirrors than to rise scratching one

Further clarification I only have to open this one mirror manually because it won’t open automatically or when pushing the button.

Give it up lol. Take it in 😢
But not before you call the concierge to complain loudly! This is a safety issue as @bbf2530 suggested, and deserves immediate action. Call the concierge and the NHTSA!

I did call them to complain. Wasn’t happy about them not being able to fix the recall on the blue screen when backing up either. Not happy with Lincoln at the moment

Hi Kenneth. Okay, that makes it clearer as to why you are using the button.

So in that case, since the reset procedure did not work, you will need to call and schedule a service appointment so this can be properly diagnosed and fixed under warranty, as DomDoobie stated. There is no DIY remedy to permanently fix this issue.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.
