My Lincoln
2012 MKS
Hello,

This is just a quick post I'm making to explain what I did to get my 2012 Lincoln MKS speaker popping issue resolved.

To immediately stop it from popping, I unplugged one of the connections to the amplifier in the trunk. You will still have the display and navigation.

STEPS

1) Remove the amplifier with 5/16 socket
2) Open amplifier with T10 Torx bit
3) Remove all thermal padding with razor blade from chips and metal case
4) Cut new pieces of thermal padding and put on the chips
5) Lightly sand the 8 contact points on the case that make contact with the 8 gold contacts
6) Lightly swab all gold contact points and and case contact points with DeoxIT (careful not to touch anything else)
7) Put all back together mount into vehicle
8) Put dielectric grease on all three plugs of the amplifier
9) Test the audio with success!

PARTS I USED:

1) Iceberg Thermal DRIFTIce Thermal Pad 120mm x 40mm x 2.0mm (13 W/mK) about $14 on Amazon
2) DeoxITLiquid, squeeze tube 100% solution 2 mL - D100L-2C about $7 on Amazon
3) Permatex 85184 dielectric grease about $4
4) Torx T10 bit for amplifier screws
5) 5/16 socket for amplifier mount screws
6) fine sandpaper, I got a small variety pack from Dollar Tree.
7) Razor blade

I hope this helps you as well with your vehicle popping noise and if it does give a Like.
