Bought the care in April. First owner leased it for two years. He was located in Iowa. Second owner had it until I bought it. My previous 2005 came out of California and it had DRLs. So, how do you tell if it was a Canadian spec car?
Hi Blueox. To explain further: Back then, Lincoln/Ford vehicles sold in the US did not have DRL’ enabled. So, if your “…previous 2005 came out of California and it had DRLs.”, then generally speaking, one of the following occurred:
-The previous owner had them enabled after purchase.
-It was originally sold as a “Fleet” vehicle. Fleet purchasers were able to order their vehicles with the DRL’s enabled.
-It was originally sold in Canada.
Knowing whether the vehicle was originally a US or Canadian spec vehicle/where it as originally sold, was only helpful in trying to troubleshoot whether the DRL’s should have been enabled or not. If you don’t know the answer, it’s not necessary for you to find that out now.
If you really wish to know the answer, the Service Department at any Lincoln/Ford dealership can tell you. There are also online services that will provide the information. Perhaps another member can direct you there. Some will charge for the service, others won’t.
At this point, if we don’t know the answer, none of the above matters anymore. So if you really want the DRL’s enabled, simply find a Lincoln/Ford dealership or independent shop that will program/enable the DRL’s on your vehicle. It can be done (although some dealerships may not have a clue), and shouldn’t cost more than 1 hours labor. So call your local dealerships to see who will do it and for how much.
I’m sure others will also jump in to help, so keep us updated and good luck.
