My wife took her 2011 Lincoln MKX with 51k miles to the dealer because of very soft brake pedal. Vehicle has been very well maintained and gently driven. Dealer advised that warranty extension provided on the brake booster - known to fail on 2010-2013 model years. Warranty extended for 10 years or 150k miles whichever occurs first. We did not receive notification (Ford says notice was sent January 2014 for 13N02 Customer Satisfaction Program). Unfortunately, ten years for wife’s vehicle happened exactly 23 days ago. Dealer can’t/won’t help. Called Lincoln at (800) 392-3673: manufacturer says they can’t/won’t help even if it was only one day past 10 years (23 days is way too many) - I’m surprised by this hardline as no notice was received. Really disappointed this repair is going to cost $950, and neither Lincoln or Dealer is willing to help. Otherwise, it has been a good vehicle. Looks like it’s time to go buy a GMC. If you have MKX or Edge 2010 - 2013 get it serviced before it’s too late!!!

Did you happen to step hard in emergency, then notice a soft pedal? If so, it might not be the brake booster. System will show a bad brake booster code, but a good technician will check the entire system. Anti lock sensors could lock in position. Happens to vehicles gently driven and in sunny warm, no snow areas where anti lock is hardly ever used. Then one day, you step hard on the brake and activate the anti lock system. One or more of the sensors locks and doesn't go back to normal and the pedal is constantly soft. Some said they fixed it by activating the anti lock in rainy weather and brake pedal went back to normal....hope this helps. Ford, GMC, Chrysler, Mercedes, etc use the same supplier for brake systems, so that won't help.
