Hi,

Wondering what you do as back for chains. I have 4x4 dual speed transfer case black label, severe winter rate Pirelli Weather Actives 285/45-22 and don’t expect to get stuck, but I’m one of those over prepared types. No clearance for steel chains.

Was thinking about Alpha Trax Snow Tire Chains Embedded With Alloy steel studs. 285/45R22 Alpha Trax Snow Tire Chains Embedded With Alloy steel studs.

Thanks in advance for sharing your expertise.

If you ever get stuck in that tank, you'll be so deep in the snow, probably up to the grille, I don't think chains will help. You'll probably be better off getting traction tracks.

In older vehicles (pre 2015), If stuck and to get the most traction, people would turn off traction control in order to get the tires to spin. However, with these new computer controlled vehicles today, you might ruin something, I'm not sure, so I guess the snow mode works OK?

I've used the plastic type before. They don't last long but I was in a 40ft truck. The metal studs flew off after the first usage.

I like the metal cable type but have never used them, however they get good ratings. Fast foward attached utube to 8 minutes.

I think whatever you use, the connection straps might come loose and smack against your fenders. Let us know which works. Thanks.
