I am a very recent 2021 Aviator owner and have reached Q8 trade-in comparative conclusions I thought might be helpful to others. I did not include all factors; just the ones most important to me. They are my conclusions and others may reach different opinions based on their priorities and preferences. I also welcome questions on my brief notes. A JPEG of my findings is shown below:

You should have been able to open it, but I removed all security. Give it a try again.

An interesting comapro.

Most people do not actually buy a car based on objective stats, I think its more perception. I would doubt anyone who buys a Q8 (or any Audi) cross shops the Lincoln, I know I dd not. I cannot ever get past the sixties T Bird sequential turn signals, every time I am so unfortunate enough to see them I just see "WRONG!"....now they do it on the front, too..which just looks so goofy and out of place on a European car. The floating center stack and the piano key trans buttons..love them or hate them.... are just so culturally and stylistically in synch on a Lincoln, however.

It would be interesting to poll what factors or features ultimately resulted in the purchase of any brand or model, and what cars were cross shopped.

Comparison Review

Comfort
The Audi Q8 offers rear passengers about the same room to stretch out as the Lincoln Aviator, with comparable head- and legroom. The Lincoln Aviator will be a hit with tall drivers and their front seat passengers, since it has greater front head- and legroom than the Audi Q8.

Cost
There are a lot of factors to consider when calculating the overall cost of a vehicle. The main consideration is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). Whether you pick the Audi Q8 or the Lincoln Aviator, it's going to cost you about the same. Another consideration is the Destination Charge, which is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle to the dealer from where it's built. Both the Audi Q8 and the Lincoln Aviator have similar Destination Charges.

Dimensions
Since the Audi Q8 is much slimmer than the Lincoln Aviator, it'll be much easier to find a wide enough space in a crowded parking lot. When looking at overall length, the Audi Q8 takes up about the same amount of space in your garage as the Lincoln Aviator.

Drivetrain
With its lower torque engine, the Audi Q8 doesn't do as good a job transmitting power to its wheels as the Lincoln Aviator.

Performance
When considering towing capacity, the Audi Q8 is clearly the choice over the Lincoln Aviator for pulling heavy loads. The Audi Q8 has a little less horsepower than the Lincoln Aviator.

Utility
The Audi Q8 has less seating than the Lincoln Aviator, making the Lincoln Aviator the better choice, if you need to chauffeur many passengers. The Audi Q8 has significantly less cargo capacity than the Lincoln Aviator.

Warranty
The Audi Q8 comes with essentially the same basic warranty as the Lincoln Aviator.

I have not found the display small. I'm kind of new to this touch screen thing in automobiles. I found our Aviator has large easy touch/icon buttons to access stuff. The biggest issue I've found is when driving on any road surface not entirely smooth, it can become a chore to get instant response to a finger contact for the passenger. We did not play with the competition enough to compare and we did not drive the GV80 which has a rotor dial and button to access (much better IMHO).

You can use voice control to operate most functions.

I have not compared Q8 with Aviator. For my consideration, I was cross-shopping Q7 with Aviator. I really liked the Q7 interior but the roominess and the perceived quality and reliability issue of Audi, in general, steered me away from Audi in general. Having said that I was also concerned about the issues I heard from the 2020 production versions of Aviator. But it seemed that the 2021 version has rectified most of the well-known plagues of the 2020 version. If I were to choose based on the look and not caring about 3rd row, then I would go with Q8. The exterior design is one of the best in my point of view.

I agree. The exterior Q8 looks are impressive. The interior looks are also pretty good, all at the expense of storage and ease of entry.

When shopping the Audi Q7’s before getting my Aviator, I was in love with the Q7 until I found out about it having no spare tire, no place to put one, and the consequent expensive and hard to find runflat tires on the car. Being a person who takes cross country trips through Appalachian country, I didn’t want to spend a few nights in some Podunk town waiting for a new tire that no one stocks, because you’re not supposed to drive the deflated runflat tires More than maybe 50 miles? My recollection is that the Continental tire on the Q7 is specific and unique to the Q7, as if it’s the only runflat tire that fits the Audi Q7. (Not sure about this) I suppose I could just switch to an ordinary non-runflat tire to get down the road.
But problem solved..... My aviator indeed has a spare tire and no need for runflats. The spare is not a full-size tire, but at least if I have to replace the tire, there are a number of brands that would fit the aviator.

From about 18 months of personal experience, I have found that run flats compromise the sound level and ride smoothness of a vehicle. Very harsh and would be a deal breaker for me. I think currently all BMW and Mini Cooper come with run flat tires. Will be a good day when my Perelli tires on our Mini wear out!

Yeah.. I've owned Q7s.. Plural. For about 11 years. And the current offering just isn't up to par. I'm not saying the Lincoln is perfect, but its just a better thought out vehicle at the moment than the Q7. I'm still an Audi guy at heart too, so it pains me to say that.
