- My Lincoln
- 2023 Aviator
I have a new 2023 Aviator, the screen stopped working a month ago, called 2 dealers their wait time is 90 days.
Any remedy will be appreciated. I am really upset at Lincoln, how a new car has clitches.
Thank you
What build of Sync is installed? If it’s 22159, that could be the problem. Have you tried a soft or hard reset.
Soft reset
How do I perform a SYNC®* module reset?
Look at manual for Factory reset.
- Select Radio.
- Hold the Power button (center of the volume knob) + the Right-Seek button at the same time for up to 5 seconds.
- The display will indicate when the module is resetting. You may then release the buttons.
last I knew APIM back order was 4 weeks or so. One was ordered for me in August. I didn’t need it, as my issue was the sync build. My FL dealer confirmed 3-4 weeks ago, when I was discussing my situation at a ME dealer this summer.
Welcome to the Forum.Where will I find that info about the sync?
How do you do a soft or had reset?
The screen turns on some times and only feature that works is if you hit the camera button or the massage button.
Thank you for your reply
Similar to post #8, if the screen is not operational, how can they see anything on it? Might just want to blindly try the reset. You won't be able to see if it works, until it does or doesn't work.Welcome to the Forum.
Before doing a Master Reset, you should attempt to see which version of Sync 3 you have installed. The latest is 23188. To do that you would have to be able to get into the screen and 'Settings'
y any chance, does your vehicle have the 360 Rearview Camera recall open on it?

That is why I mention "attempt", as it is mentioned the screen turns on sometimes.Similar to post #8, if the screen is not operational, how can they see anything on it? Might just want to blindly try the reset. You won't be able to see if it works, until it does or doesn't work.
I think disconnecting the negative battery cable for a few minutes may accomplish the same thing. It’ll be difficult to do a master reset if screen is not working as that’s where all the controls you need are.
Where are you located and where did you purchase your Aviator? I bought mine from Coconut Point Lincoln (Pompano area) Florida. They never serviced it before the sale, and the Entertainment Amplifier was not working and had to be replaced. Because I live in Naples, 110 miles west, they blew me off when I called them with the problem, and told me to go to the Naples Lincoln Dealer. I went there, and after begging, they let me leave it, my wife picked me up in our Vette, and a week later it was fixed. They were great!! Only reason it took a week was the part had to be ordered.Wanted to buy locally, but 2 nearest dealers had no inventory at the time.I have a new 2023 Aviator, the screen stopped working a month ago, called 2 dealers their wait time is 90 days.

I traded in a 2020 Explorer ST, that had some recalls outstanding, for which the Naples Ford dealer quoted me a 90 day wait time too.
Interestingly, the Explorer also had issues when I went to pick it up, again a couple hours away. Never got to drive it, until they delivered it to us, 3 days later. Ford Motor Co. definitely has quality issues these days, especially the ones being built in Chicago.... Owning a business in Illinois, leads me to believe that it's not just Chicago, but actually an issue in all of Illinois!
Thank you all for your insight. The screen turned on today, and I could check the version it's 22251 build, but just as an FYI, i found that we can also find the version on the lincoln Way app, it will tell you your version, so I dint really have to have my screen on.I had a similar issue recently with my 2023 Reserve that was built in late Feb. The Navigation became glitchy when car was turned off and then restarted a few minutes later. Got worse and worse over about a month. Finally had the issue where screen was totally blank when starting car.
If your backup camera is working then there is nothing wrong with the screen,. If the screen won't show the backup views, then your screen has failed and you have to have a Lincoln Dealer fix it. I would talk to a Lincoln Concierge representative and they might be able to get you a quicker appointment.
My issue was the Sync Version 22159 which I determined was installed when I went to the Sync 3 update site. When I updated to the latest version using a USB stick, and downloading it from the Sync 3 updates site, all my problems went away. If you go to that site and put in your VIN #, it will tell you which Sync version your car is currently using. If it isn't the latest #23188 version, that's very likely the problem. Once you have the 23188 version downloaded to USB stick, plug it into the slot in the console slot below the sliding door next to the driver's seat. It should automatically start downloading. It takes a while and your Aviator needs to be running the whole time.
Good Luck!!
You don't have to have the vehicle ON in order for a WiFi update. As long as it is in range and has a good signal, it will update.Thank you all for your insight. Now I have to find a 32GB stick, dowload the update and into the USB stick and then upload it in the car, tried to connect the wifi to the car and do it that way, it did not work after leaving the car on for 1.5 hrs.
Spoke to tech support they said the build I am on has a lot of issues.
Will update soon, thank you
Yes, I turned that on, it was not on earlier oll check in a couple of hour to see, it just kept circling "checking for update"You don't have to have the vehicle ON in order for a WiFi update. As long as it is in range and has a good signal, it will update.
Mine updated the Sync version and the latest map version 2.2 while parked in the garage. Just make sure the vehicle is set to receive auto updates.
