Alternatives to Lincoln sedans?

My Lincoln
2004 Town Car Signature, 2007 Mark LT
Just curious, for those of you still enjoying your Townie, Connie, Zephyr/MKZ, MKS, or even your LS.

Say you're thinking about getting something newer, but you don't want a Navigator, or a crossover. You're not willing to wait for the car buying public to come back to it's senses (and for Lincoln to follow suit) and start embracing cars again.

Whatcha gonna get? And why? (These are probably answers the hotshots at Lincoln should keep in mind for possible future use 😂.) Doesn't necessarily have to be brand new, but let's just arbitrarily say "nothing more than five years old".

Personally? I find myself drawn to the Audi A8. Smooth, quiet, comfortable, unapologetically big and I think the current ones look really good. Classy but understated (not unlike traditional Lincoln styling). I've only ever ridden in one, so maybe actually driving one would kill it for me, but until then, that would be my replacement for a Lincoln sedan.

But before that... I know eventually I'm getting a 2020 Connie with the lowest mileage I can find. 😂 Hopefully by the time a 2020 Continental is ready for the junkyard Lincoln will be building something that at least resembles a sedan.
 
As long as Ford is making the money that they are making now, 4 door sedans are done. With the possible exception of a battery powered vehicle of some format.
Ford sunk a lot of money into battery power research and production, they will want a return on that investment.

As to the sedan question .... I would have to just go much to a much older model(s) made by the same company. I am too invested in what Ford has made and the designs to learn how to maintain and repair a different make. But I am not really a fan of 4 doors in a car.

I like big coupes and I cannot lie.
The ones with long hoods that make you cry.

Sure, but Ford is basically a truck manufacturer that also makes the Mustang. Speaking of... That could be a platform for something else. An EV can have any body an engine powered vehicle can, why not a luxury CAR? Definitely not a fan of bloated minivans... Whoops, I meant crossovers, and all of Lincoln's competitors have a sedan or three in the lineup, so ....

But...

Older, you say? I'll take a black Mark VII, please. 😁 If not that, if I could find a five speed LS that wasn't completely roached I'd jump on it. And don't get me started on the suicide door Connies... 🤤 I'd prefer a '66 or '67 but really any year from '61 to '69 would probably "do it" for me.
 
I generally like the entire Mark line. While the Mark VII sold more units and was built longer, than Mark VIII. The Mark VIII is a bigger car. Which I prefer.
And the buying public wanted those too. (bigger) Just not in personal luxury cars. The buyers simply moved to SUVs of one type or the other.

When I was in the market for the next DD I was upset there were no more luxury coupes to buy made by Ford. Which is why I bought my Navigator. And my Navigator replaced two rides. My Mark VIII and a E150 that I was using to tow a large boat.

I am not a fan of the clutch. I have been in a number of LS. Every one I test drove was nice. But I was sorting out rides for my family and no one liked the LS. And my opinion did not count.

Slab sides are cool looking. But are such maintenance hogs without cup holders. Nice to have but would not use as a DD.

I tried to warm up to the last model Continental, I really did, but it just didn't do it for me. Neither did the MKS, MKZ, Zephyr or LS. I cannot lie, I'm just a Mark VIII fan (I currently have three - none of which are really stock). I've told more than one sales person on a dealer lot as I was leaving, "If you sold something like this (pointing to my Mark VIII), I'd buy it in a heartbeat."

As for the Town Car, there is not or never will be an equal. Ours is relegated to back up driver for the wife though she may only drive it once or twice a year. She refuses to let it go.

As for the future, I never say never but I don't see me in an EV, which is where I think Ford and Lincoln possibly may pull something out of their past to bring back in an electrified sedan or coupe form. It will more than likely be in a small truck or mid-sized crossover though.

IF I ever choose to venture to an EV it's going to be Tesla.
Battery pack simplification and about the only thing proprietary as far as parts go is the drive motors and Battery packs as a whole.
Cell repair is simple if ever needed. Software to connect is out there for all.
It's just a Big golf cart with easily swappable parts
