My Lincoln
2022 Navigator L
I recently bought a used 2022 Navigator and did not want to pay for the BlueCruise subscription, especially after reading about all of the shortcomings with the current software. I saw that the 2022-2024 Ford Expedition was recently added to the list of supported vehicles on the comma.ai site (comma.ai — make driving chill), so I thought I would take a gamble and see if I could get it to work on my Navigator.

The device arrived today, and after about 30 minutes to install the device and update the software, I was able to successfully get it working on my Navigator. I have only done about 75 miles of hands-free test driving so far, but everything seems to be working and I have had no issues.

This may be a great alternative to BlueCruise for anyone else with a 2022-2024 Navigator. There are a lot of videos on youtube comparing BlueCruise and other manufacturers self driving software to OpenPilot.

Thank you for this info! I will need to purchase the Navigator now….

How has this held up? Considering the purchase given how bad the BC is on my 22. Practically unusable.

Does it work fully integrated with the buttons and everything? Lane assist and ACC buttons trigger it? Or are you having to use the comma display to turn things on/off?

For the most part everything is working flawlessly and I highly recommend the device. All of the steering wheel buttons function correctly and the BLIS is fully integrated for monitoring blind spots and lane changes. Outside of the initial setup, you should not have to use the comma display. It is at least a couple steps ahead of the experience of BlueCruise. There are still limitations on how much torque it can send to the steering wheel, so expect to take over on tighter turns. If your expectations are reasonable going in and treat it more as an advanced driver assist instead of a RoboTaxi, you will not be disappointed. Several of my friends and neighbors have liked mine so much that they have since bought Commas for their vehicles. All of them have been very happy with their purchases as well.

So far I have driven around 1500 miles with my Comma. I live at the very northwest end of the Oklahoma City metro, so my driving is a mix of about 20% city, 40% freeway, and 40% rural. I am running BluePilot 4.0 which is a fork of SunnyPilot instead of the default OpenPilot. The setup was super simple and took me about 90 minutes total with most of the time being spent routing the main cable inside the A pillar cover and along the front of the headliner. I have since helped a few of my neighbors with installations on their F150s and Expeditions and can now complete the entire process in about 30 minutes.

Hey! I hope all is well. So I am considering buying a 2021 or 22 Navigator, and I have heard that they are all still running Bluecruise 1.0, which turns off constantly if the road curves a bit too much, I've heard that unlike GM supercruise, it nags you if you look at your blindspot for 2 seconds. So Comma looked like a great option. I googled Comma for the Navigator and came across your post. Is there a list of vehicles that Bluepilot and sunnypilot support? I tried to google it, and even go on their sites, but can't find a list. Is the 2021 also supported ? BTW, has Ford by chance updated your BC above 1.0?

I went on the website and the version they are selling now does not support the Lincoln Navigator.

No, the OP didn't use regular Comma Ai. It has never supported the Navigator, it supports the Expedition. A private group developed Bluepilot which is a version of Sunnypilot, which is an alternate firmware that you can install into the unit, which does apparently support it. That is what the OP is talking about. Before buying it, I was trying to get more information, and trying to see if it supported the 2021 Nav as well, but I don't think the OP is checking this thread anymore.

Thanks for clarifying.
