Are the plug wires new or in very good condition since they often are the cause of misfires by leaking HT voltage to the surrounding engine grounds. Check distributor caps and rotors for moisture or tracking on inside of cap or cracks or other damage.

Have you checked the trans oil level and condition. The fluid should be red and perfectly clear, but after time it gets a bit cloudy and less red, and can affect the torque converter operation. Shuddering due to the torque converter is often trans fluid related. The service manual suggests an oil change as first step after electrical issues resolved.

When you changed the battery, you probably cleaned all the connections, but what about the battery body ground and the connection from the positive battery terminal to the power distribution box. Also check inside the power box for corroded connections. Not sure about the '93 but the '98 has problems with water getting into the power box and corroding the connections.

Good luck.
