Hello All,

I am new to this forum but have owned Lincolns for about 12 years now.
I have a 2020 Lincoln Aviator Reserve, with every option possible. It is an amazing SUV. We have around 9k miles on it now, and I have been this '4WD Malfunction Service Required' pop up a few times while driving. Now it seems to go away after a few miles of driving, but I have had it in to the dealer a few times and they have replaced the AWD module, and inspected all wiring. I guess its under the drivers seat? Have any of you had this issue and found a resolution? Something I can bring up to the dealer as I have to take it in again....

I am having this issue as well Lincoln and I reported this to NTSB because a $90,000 car having AWD issues is a huge problem when I bought this car to be able to drive in snowy weather from time to time and I would like to not have to pay for a computer malfunction as this has been repaired becuSe they’d said a sensor went out and if these sensors are this sensitive they should get out of making AWD cars

I had this same message pop up after rolling about 40k miles on my 2020 Reserve 2. My failuer was caused by s sensor failure. Took an afternoon fr them to repair it. Haven't had any issues since.

I had a similar issue on my 2022 Corsair. When it happened I called the service manager and he went into Oasis. There was a code for a right rear wheel speed sensor. When I brought it in the tech checked the wiring no issues. He checked the sensor no issues. He moved the sensor to the left rear. Few days later errors came up. Had the service manager go into Oasis. The code was now for the left rear wheel speed sensor. So the problem moved with the sensor. They replaced it no problem since. I bought an extra to keep on hand because it’s not hard to change. Instead of making drive to dealer and maybe having to leave it and get a loaner. Don’t know if this is your issue. But when you get the warning again try calling the service department and ask the service manager to go into Oasis and read the code while it’s active. Now they could have an idea of what to look at. Hope this helps.

Had same issue in Oct. Image of in vehicle notice and repair invoice attached. No issues since.

One key thing. You went in with the error there so they were able to read code. You have to be able to at least read a code to help point you in the right direction as a tech. Otherwise you’d just be throwing random parts at the problem and no manufacturer allows that.

Im having the same issue on my 2021 Aviator. They are telling me it’s $1400 to fix. If it’s part of the all wheel drive which is covered under power train, why isn’t the module covered.

Just had the same thing with my 2021 right now... telling me it's 1400 as well. This sounds like a faulty part on their behalf.

Hi G-349. The AWD module is covered under the LincolnProtect PremiumCare ESP plan.
However, I am not sure about coverage under the 6 year/70,000 mile Powertrain Warranty.

Keep us updated and good luck.

I have 2023 nautilus with that issue.
They had the car since Dec 18
Ordered module
They have not called
For a 2023 this to happen to.
That’s a BIG PROBLEM
