2024 Nautilus in snow?

1/2 tire size + width xAspectRatio (converted to inches) is what you're trying to have the same.

Example, if you have a 20" 255/55, it's 10 + (255 x 0.55) / 25.4 (mm/ inch) = 15.52" radius.

Say you tried to switch to an 18" 255/65. That calculates to 15.53". Essentially the same total size, odometer will be accurate.

Yes. Simple method: for the same tire width (e.g., 255), change 1 AR step per inch of rim size change. AR changes in steps of 5. In the example, we decreased 2" in rim, so needed to increase AR by 10.

There is 4 rim sizes that are offered on the Nautilus. 19-22 inch rims. I have checked and all have the same overall diameter due to the different aspect ratio's.The speedo will not be affected as long as you are using factory size spec tires to go along with the corresponding rims. You can look at Ford.com under build and price to see the wheel tire sizes per trim.
There is talk about going to 18 inch rims you will need 255 65 18 inch tires to match all other specs.
Here is the issue trying to find an 18 rim with the correct specs for the vehicle. I reaserch for a long time and could find none.

One more item if going with 18 inch rims there could be clearance issues for the stick on wheel weights inside the rim. Spare tire are not balanced.
Saw this a few times last winter with one vehicle and during turns the deflection of the wheel bearings caused contact of the weight to the brake caliper. Had to re balance with only edge weights to clear.

It sounds like going with 19s for dedicated winter could be simpler...

19 inch .That is what I have ordered. See my post # 22 for part #.

Just thought I would post this here as well as the wheels thread. It was a nightmare for me getting wheels and winter tires.

Crisis is over. Got new wheels and Tires. Look great.

Long, long story , but I have come to the conclusion that because of the uniqueness of this Platform (when it comes to wheels) its highly likely that the big box places & dealerships wont have a clue how to fit the vehicle , nor know what to do if it doesn't fit. The issue was exacerbated that Lincoln mis spec'd the vehicle when the specs got into the public domain.I was explaining to a buddy of mine how exasperated and frustrated I was trying to address this issue of getting winter wheels and tires. I had spent hours and hours on the issue. He said, why dont you call up this place (Wheels Plus in Edmonton). Its a small specialty shop place. I was reticent to do so cause I thought it was just for car guys. But I called this place, explained to him all the wrong info out there with respect to the specs and he had ALL the correct info at his fingertips. Within 5 minutes my wheels and tires had been ordered, and 3 days later they were on my car.

The other surprising thing is these tires were out of stock at a lot of placers but this smaller place had zero issues sourcing them.

Anyways, I am very happy. The issue is done & lesson learned. If you have anything out of the ordinary, go to a smaller specialty shop. And its good for small business too.

For what it's worth, our 2024 Nautilus Reserve Hybrid has 21" wheels so I ended up getting Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 snow tires for the winter. We've had a few good snow storms already here in the Colorado mountains and the car has handled everything well.

Hi,

I'm 1 year later in the same boat shopping for wheels and tires. 2 specific questions if you have time:
1 - Did you use aftermarket TPMS sensors? Any issues with it?
2 - Were you able to fit OEM nuts on the new rims of if you had to buy specific nuts?

Thanks!

I have the same car and was wondering how you would rate those tires on not just snow, but dry and wet pavement? Also, is the noise and drive comfort comparable at all to an all-season tire?

I cannot tell for the Michelin Pilot Alpin, but on my previous SUV I had Continental VikingContact 7 tires. I will buy the same (now numbered 8) for my Nautilus in 20" size as I could not tell the difference between the Winter and the All-Season tires used in summer. Noise, stability and comfort was the same. Loved them. You can check reviews, they are usually in the top 3 with Michelin and Blizzak.

I got my sensors from the dealership.
In terms of the nuts, not sure. I got my wheels & tires from a wheel shop & they got the nuts.
