If they start making nautilus on Sept 6 and say your car is made in Oct, would they ship it to dealer right away, or wait until after first of year like some are saying

Hi Dave. Due to many variables, when the first 2024 Nautilus customer orders will begin to arrive can not be predicted at this point.

For example...The first vehicles produced in a new model year are not scheduled or produced for customer orders. There must be a period of 5 full days (if I recall correctly) of defect free vehicle production before customer ordered vehicle production begins.

Therefore, it will be some time before customer orders begin production.

Then...Once customer orders are being produced, they will not "...wait until the first of the year like some are saying" (who are these some people?).
They will ship vehicles as their scheduling allows, keeping in mind they are not going to be shipping 1-5-10 at a time, but shipping full containers/container ships. If that means once a week, it will be once a week. If it means every few weeks, it will be every few weeks. If it means once a month, it will be once a month. It it means the first of the year, then it will be the first of the year. Or later. But "after the first of the year" is not a preset plan.

Then it needs to be remembered that they will be shipped to the west coast, then transferred to rail and convoy transportation. So this is an involved process which has not even begun yet.

Unfortunately, at this point, until customer orders are being produced, and the first shipments arrive at Dealerships, there is no way to predict the answer to the question of how long it will it take to get a 2024 Nautilus order. All a customer can do at this point is be patient.

That is a simple explanation. Although it is not what you were hoping to hear, I hope it helps.

Good luck.

Hi Dave . Have you tracked your vehicle? I am wondering where you are in the process. I ordered mine June 6, and it just went in to production today, Oct 19. Curious to see how long it takes to ship after it is built.

Ordered Aug 14. Haven't received production date yet.

Welcome to the Forum.👋
Seeing as how these are now coming from China, I don't think anyone really has an idea about shipping/delivery times. I doubt though that they ship vehicles as soon as they are built. Also, I don't know if it has been established as to how the vehicles will be shipped. There are ships specifically designed to transport many vehicles at a time or perhaps they may be shipped via containers.

Thank you!

Seems like production notices and VINs are flying off the shelf.

I was going to order mid-May, but the dealer kept screwing me. He wanted me to sign a price sheet $5K over MSRP. I switched dealerships and ordered 6/7 via the general manager.

I get a call last week, but only to tell me that GM is gone, screwed up the orders, and I had to sign an order sheet to 'complete' the order, but he still thought the 4 month slip wouldn't impact my schedule at all.

It's curious because Lincoln had sent me a 'thank you for ordering' email back in June, so I thought I had retained my spot, but if 8/14 is getting a production date, it doesn't seem like I had a spot at all.

To comment on shipping, virtually everything these days ships in either a 40 ft (common) or 20 ft container. However, they do build car carrier ships specifically for vehicles, which is what is typically used for new car allotments from the manufacturer. A typical one ships 8000-9000 vehicles, but there can be multiple customers on one ship (very common). China to California can be 2-4 weeks, but bear in mind there's logistics getting from the plant to the ship, and then from the ship to the dealership. That could increase the time 3-4×.

Unlike container ships, which unload the containers using cranes usually directly onto flatbed rail cars, the car carrier ships have a cargo hatch at the rear (very much like a cargo plane). I imagine they're just driven off and then onto a road car carrier. I'm not sure whether they ever use rail.

I see you ordered your Nautilus 6/6. Can I ask if it was a hybrid? We have a theory they're only building ICE models currently.

I ordered 6/7 and haven't heard anything, but I suspect my order was 'lost'.
