2023 Corsair
Hello all! I'm hoping this has not been covered yet. I've searched this forum and the internet with no answers. This is my first post, please be gentle. 😬
I've recently leased a 2023 Corsair Reserve III AWD. Coming from a 2020 Reserve I FWD, it's a fantastic upgrade! I'm super stoked with the car.
My only annoyance I have is the belt minder screen that pops up after you start the vehicle. I understand the reasoning for having it and I appreciate it. However, when I buckle in, I feel like the screen should dismiss on its own. It's not something I had on my 2020 and it's my own #firstworldproblem to have to take an extra second or two to dismiss it myself. 😅
I've read in the owner's manual that there is a way to disable the driver and passenger seat belt minders. I've attempted a couple of times. I've double checked that the parking brake is set, transmission is in park, ignition is off, doors are shut and belts are unbuckled. I turn on the vehicle in accessory mode (not start the engine) and wait for the seat belt warning light to switch off. Which is the red dash light above the battery light, correct? The seat belt light should go off after one minute. Mine does not, therefore I cannot continue with disabling the belt minder.
I did call Lincoln Concierge but alas, they only have the owner's manual as reference. The concierge recommended I take my Corsair into the dealer to have them look at/disable it. I have no problem with doing that, but I'd rather not if it's something I can take care of myself with a little help from you all.
I'm also aware of the recent recall surrounding the safety belt system. Would that be a factor in not being able to disable the belt minder screen? Any insight would be much appreciated! 😁
Also, thanks for reading my post!

Did you resolve this...I have the same issue. My closest dealer is 3 hours away. Tx

Unfortunately, no. I never consulted the dealer about this.

I don't know if I've just gotten used to it or if it was the last software update, but I don't notice it as much anymore. I feel like the software update gave the option to select 'OK' to clear the notification whether the seat belts were buckled or not. Like I said, it could be my imagination, but it's not as bothersome now.

Hope this helps.

Owners manual is worthless. So many errors. You can tell where Ford has cut back on employees. Try this to disable chime. It still keeps the visual display minder on way to long. Especially if all belts are buckled

You are not wrong! I spent an hour trying to turn off the chime, I had to put a battery charger on cause the battery kept going low in <10 min; the procedure never seemed to work. Eventually I did get the chime disabled but it was from pure luck and chance. I'll have to try your attached procedure on the pass side as that has become equally annoying anytime I have a passenger.

Ugh. I've tried this multiple times with no success.
Like someone else mentioned, the seal belt reminder light never turns off initially that we're looking for in the beginning. Sigh.

I agree 100% with all the comments about the annoying seatbelt message that stays on the dash. I'm a first-time Lincoln owner and just purchased a 2023 Corsair Grand Touring with all the bells and whistles, and I find it ridiculous that you have to hit 'OK' to eliminate the seatbelt message. It should automatically go away when all the belts are fastened. I've owned dozens of cars in my lifetime and never had one that required you to press a button to see the full dashboard every time you start the car. Lincoln should apply a software update to fix that "feature". Otherwise, I'll absolutely be buying a Cadillac as my next car.

Agree.
However I have noticed if you don't click ok but have your seatbelt buckled, it will eventually be dismissed automatically but I'm driving at this point 🙄. I don't have the GT version but the reserve. Takes way too long to go away. Shouldn't even be required. Sigh.

My dealer had not heard about it, and couldn't do any better than I had. I foolishly accepted the chime recall update on my 2020 Corsair, and after that the chime time doubled from 3 seconds to 6. Now with a new 2023 Corsair GT, it's on continuously. I've been religiously wearing seat belts since I was a small child so I definitely do not need Lincoln to remind me. When I get my mail and drive up our private lane 600 feet to go home I sure don't need to buckle up, yet Lincoln thinks so. I'm going to try the more precise steps another poster had indicated was successful. See attachment. Can't say that it helped, unfortunately, and I tried with the parking brake off as well. No joy.

The biggest shame in all this, is the manual is imprecise, and worse, the Concierge has no better information to share despite how long it has gone on annoying customers. Perhaps the recent recall "Fix" actually broke the work around.

Since you apparently are acknowledging failure to buckle up, yes, Lincoln does need to remind you. I'd argue that even if regulators allow (do they?), expecting it to be easy to disable a safety feature is not a reasonable expectation.

Huge ditto! Arrogant ivory tower managers and engineers are the root cause. I doubt very many of them drive the cars they design. They haven’t got a clue. The chime disable was impossible using the manual but the precise steps posted here on this forum did work. But of course the primary instrument cluster display still has the annoying pop up alert about the seat belts. STUPID!

If you had read the bit about my driving up a private lane and being annoyed by the warning perhaps you might have had a different response?

The back seat reminder to take your small child in the store with you was very easy to disable and the seat belt warnings should be as easy to disable. Those of us who are responsible for our own actions don’t need big brother and especially not a bigger government to look out for us. When they do like with this topic it is reasonable to be a little annoyed.

Are you guys saying the seat belt minder never disappears or just not fast enough for your preference?

I certainly did read; how else would I have known you acknowledged not wearing the belt?

So just wear the ($^%%() thing!

Since Blue Cruise knows if you are watching the road, they could determine if the belt is both buckled and toward the front; so I agree no excuse for not promptly turning off for driver (if buckled).

But without adding cameras, and perhaps hundreds of $$ to car cost, it's not clear how a fool proof passenger system could be implemented.

I agree with designers (and government?) that disable should not be allowed.

Not fast enough! I should never have to press a button to fully see my instrument cluster. Even if it went away twice as fast, I would still be unhappy.

I found the worthless owners manual instructions didn't work to stop the audio warning for my 23 Corsair Reserve. Same problem the light didn't go off after a minute to continue the procedure. I searched online and downloaded many different Lincoln and Ford vehicle owners manuals and tried them all until one worked. The one I posted was what worked for me. The visual display after all the belts are buckled should drop off immediately. So I could guess the department responsible for this was involved in layoffs / buyouts in another cost cutting move just like the owners manual department!

Not fast enough. But to even use the word fast is misleading. It stays on long enough to back out of my driveway, get to the end of my alley, and then some more. It's far longer (minutes) than makes any sense.

Speaking from my 2023 Corsair GT perspective and one who supports forcing belt usage.

It should automatically disappear the moment the last detected passenger buckles up. But, alas, it doesn't. Way too looooong of a display period, especially when everyone is buckled up. I agree with many that it goes from being a safety feature to safety hazard with the prolonged display blocking the normal view of the instrument cluster.

You do make some good points, but for those of us who don't appreciate big brother and bigger government, it would be much better if the dashboard alerts and audible chimes were both possible and easier to selectively disable, like the reminder about back seat occupants. That's simple choice. I do not support forcing seat belt use, even on airlines, but that situation deserves more oversight. For example, during severe turbulence like Singapore Airlines 321 just experienced, some of those passengers without seatbelt use may not have just hurt themselves if they violently bounced into others who may have been fine otherwise securely fastened in their seats.
