Anyone with a 2018 Reserve (Or I guess 2016-2018) where when you let off the gas it seems like there is a noise that I think is transmission related and when you push the gas back down it makes the same noise? Almost a sound as if something is catching as you ease off the gas and then when you ease back into it?

Its a new noise that popped up. Mine has 16,000 miles on it, just bought it 3 weeks ago.

Hi C7. Trying to accurately diagnose noises over the Internet is difficult at best. There are simply too many variables and questions to be asked, and it would still be a wild guess for anyone to accurately blind Internet diagnose it.

For example, it could be a transmission issue, a loose heat shield, a loose under-body shield etc. etc. Does the noise seem to occur as you go through any particular speed when accelerating and/or decelerating, or does it occur at completely random speeds? If it occurs at the same speeds, it may very likely be a loose heat shield. But that is simply a blind Internet guess.

Your Lincoln is still within the 6 year/70,000 mile Powertrain Warranty, so your best course of action (in my opinion) would be to set up a service appointment with the Service Department at your local Lincoln Dealership and have them properly diagnose this issue.

In the meantime, I would also recommend checking the transmission fluid level and topping off as necessary (if your vehicle has a dipstick). And while doing that, check the fluid for proper color, any burnt odor etc.

I am sure others will jump in with more advice and recommendations.

Keep us updated and good luck.

My window sticker I downloaded shows a 6 year/70,000 mile warranty, so I believe that is up now depending of the month it was built, so I will have to check into that.

Hi C7. The vehicle build-date (month/year) is listed on the manufacturer placard, which is located on the drivers side door sill. That can give you a general idea of whether the vehicle may still be within warranty.

However, the actual warranty "in-service date" (the date the warranties officially begin), starts the day the vehicle is sold to the original owner/purchaser. And that date can often be quite a while after the build-date. You can get obtain that "in-service date" information from the Service Department of your local Lincoln Dealership, or even a Ford Dealership if necessary.

You can also get the information from the LincolnWay phone app, if you have the app installed, the vehicle ownership has been properly transferred over/registered with Lincoln etc.

Keep us updated and good luck.

Sadly the app shows it started 4/14/2018, so my Powertrain would be expired. Thanks for telling me that would be listed on the app, I didnt think to check there :)

That's only a little over 5 yrs!
Yup, you are right!! LOL. Oppsss. I guess I will swig by there this weekend to ask about it

Did you ever figure out the issue here? This sounds identical to what I'm experiencing with my 2017 MKX (3.7L).

The warranty begins the day that you sign the paperwork and drive away. It has nothing to do with the build date.

On mine it was the front axles causing the transmission to make that noise, Something in the axles was loose, once they replaced those under the Power Train Warranty I luckily still had, that solved the issue.

2018 mkx doing it at any speed. Off and back on the gas I get almost a clunk. Shifts fine but the noise is new. 90,000 miles.

Is your 2018 MKX an AWD? If so, have you ever had the PTU fluid serviced? They have been prone to failure due to breakdown of the PTU oil.
Like bbf2530 responded to the OP last year, (see post #4 above) you cannot diagnose these things over the internet. That said, I am not saying your PTU is the issue, just suggesting you might want to get the PTU fluid serviced regardless!
