My Lincoln
2017 Navigator L Reserve
Hi all,

A little over a month ago I became the owner of a 2017 Navigator L. There has been no issues until yesterday evening. When I went to push the start button, all I heard was a click. I thought the battery may have been bad, so I got a new one I had and put it in there and got the same click. Has anyone dealt with this? I’m at a loss. It only has 86,200 miles so I can’t imagine the starter has went out already. I appreciate all your input. Thanks.

I have had the same issue. Just not on my Navigator.
With just a click, that is usually the relay clicking.

Battery cable connections at both ends of all cables is critical. After inspection and cleaning as needed of all cables further diagnosis is necessary.

What is the battery voltage with engine off? (On this new battery that you had)
When the current battery was installed, did you connect a battery charger to it before attempting a start?

The new battery had 11.8 volts on it. It was made in 02/2023. I did not connect a battery charger to it as everything came alive.

11.8 at rest is low. Needs to be over 12.2 and closer to 12 1/2 would be better.
At 11.8 the battery is likely less than 50% charged. (A load test would be better and more complicated)
With the voltmeter connected, attempt to start the engine. Bet the voltage drops below 11. Maybe below 10.
Either the battery needs charging or the battery is bad.
