Need to replace the alternator. I have the Lincoln shop manual and it states you have to remove the ac compressor to replace the alternator. Looking to see if anyone has done this, and is there a work around?

Not sure which engine you have, but if it is the 3.5L, my AllData states to remove the A/C compressor. Have to check the car to see if there isn't a better way. It doesn't actually show the compressor in the pictures for the Alternator. I checked the A/C compressor removal procedures and the images don't clearly show the Alternator in those or list it as needing to be removed.

Thanks for your reply. I do have the 3.5L and the shop manual says to remove the compressor. Just don't want to create another issue.

Hi I'm working on a replacing an alternator on a 2010 Lincoln MKZ I understand about taking the compressor loose to maneuver the alternator out from the bottom but do we unhook the lines or not because I really don't want to have to fool with putting new refrigeration in the system
