I have my eyes on a 2008 Lincoln Navigator 4wd imported from Japan into the EU. The car has not been modified for the EU market yet.
I must know whether the car has been produced for the US market and then got exported to Japan or if it has been produced to japanese spec.
Does any of you know whether there has ever been a Navigator offered in Japan with japanese specs from that specific generation of Navs?
Mind you the japanese value LHD cars a lot and would even try and order US and European luxury cars as LHD cars, even if RHD was an option. Therefore the car on offer being an LHD model doesn't immediately mean it has to be a USDM car.
In Germany a Lincoln might be able to get all authorization to be registered by German and EU standards after a couple of modifications. The workshops that specialize on that told me I must be sure of the car being a USDM car and that a potential JDM car would not be possible to be modified in a way to enable registration in Germany.
The pictures show a sticker under the hood, where in a USDM car the vehicle emissions sticker would be. I am uncertain whether there were JDM Navigators and in case there were, whether they would carry a sticker at that specific location. Therefore it must be a USDM car. Can someone confirm my theory?
Unfortunately I won't be receiving detailed pictures of the type plate at the door sill and the vehicle emissions sticker before the auction ends. Otherwise I could be sure it is a USDM car or not.
