Hi,

I've been driving Town Car Limos for some years now and finally have one parked at my house. It needs a new steering rack and I will be putting it in myself. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on this subject. I watched some you tube videos, but none of them were specifically Town Car videos. My first question is: What will I have to remove to get to the rack?

Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

Attached are the procedures to replace the steering rack (steering gear in Lincoln service manual) and the 3 procedures related to the steering fluid filling (the 3 will cover any eventuality with the fluid fill). The procedure says Mercon transmission fluid which is no longer available so use Mercon V, and this was the factory fill and spec for my 2007 Town Car.

There is a forum here for the Town Car: https://lincolnforums.com/forums/forums/19-Lincoln-Town-Car-(1981-2011)

Good luck.
