2007 Navigator - hood won't open. It's not the cable it does pop.. just the ...

Hi there,

Any tips on why hood latch will not release the hood? The cable pops the hood but the lever we cannot move at all to actually open the hood. We can take a screw driver and push really hard on the hood handle and then I have someone else lift the hood up. I then check the handle latch and it moves freely back and forth eaily but as soon as I shut the lid there is like to much pressure of something on the handel to make it move to open the hood.

I tried greasiing the latch and still no go..

Any suggestions? I would hate to do something to where I cannot get the hood open at all..

I plan on taking off the latch and looking at the springs or something but worried that if I put it back on or do something wrong to where I cannot get the hoodopen at all?

Should I just get a new latch or what should I look for?

grind it, bend it, alter it...………...easy fix

Thanks but grind what bend what? Once we shut the hood to see if our grinding or bending work may be the last time the hood ever opens even with a screw driver. Will figure out something to extend through the loooooooong grill space to be able to remove the latch bolts if need be before we go grinding and bending.
