2002 LS Not Starting - Timing Chain, Flywheel?

Tried starting my LS last night and as it was cranking over something "let loose". Now
when I try starting the car it cranks, but it sounds different, almost as if gears are
spinning, but not attached to anything. I looked under the hood, but don't see any broken
belts or anything else obvious.

Any feedback is appreciated.

GCheck the starter and make sure the gear is engaging the flywheel. The starter could be loose or the gear not extending.
