Today I was at Advance Auto. I was asking how I can add cleaner to my A/C and then charge it. When he pulled open the cap some air or whatever spewed out a bit, you could hear there was pressure. He said that it shouldn't build up like that and I should take it to a shop before doing that. Is this true?

I'm not a mechanic, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night. :) Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

I used to be a residential HVAC mechanic and if I were to open the cap on a home AC unit and Freon (AC coolant) sprayed out I would be looking for a bad schrader valve to start with. So yeah, the AA guy is right. You should get that figured out of you'll probably start losing Freon if you already haven't.

well, perdon how I worded it, but it made a noise as if it were, kind of like, pressure built up would be a good way to put it, I don't expect to have a/c in it at this age but it would be kind of nice lol
