1992 Town Car transmissions

Someone posted that in mid year of production the 1992's got an electronically controlled trans. which is supposed to be more reliable. How do I determine which trans. the car has?

The older transmission is an AOD. The replacement is an AOD-E

AOD-E has no kick down cable. The tag on the transmission is PKE
AOD has a kick down cable. The tag on the transmission is PKA

The transmission code on the warranty sticker on the door jambe may be different too. HOwever I do not have those codes.
