1992 Town Car Dome Light stays on please help :)

Hello

I have a 1992 Town Car and my dome light stays on I did spray all the switches around the car but this did not help.
Did notice that if I do not lock the car they did turn off a couple of times but not all the time if I lock the car they stay always on.
The light switch where you can turn them on and of does not turn them of at all.

What is the best way to approach this problem ? Is there maybe some common problem ? For now I did pull fuse #17 but I like to fix it and get the fuse back in ....

You have a bad door ajar switch. Most likely the drivers door since it gets the most use . Spraying don't get it all the time it must be replaced. That's where I would start.

I had a similar problem with my 2002 Explorer Sport Trac. The dome light would stay on and the alarm would not arm. Turned out the switch on the door latch mechanism was bad. I replaced the switch and all is good again.

You just need to change the switch on door. It's a common problem with older cars.
