Anyone have any idea of an alternate brake booster for a Mark IV? They cannot be had new, and I have a car show coming up in a few weeks, so no time to have it rebuilt. There are many aftermarket options, including electric boosters that only need 12v to function, but I rather hear from all of you if there is a unit that will drop in place.

Thanks!

Is that a vacuum booster or a hydro-boost unit?

I believe it is a vacuum booster.
The Cardone # is 54-73005
Not finding it anywhere either

It's a vacuum, but I am finding there are hydro-boost units available, and may be a cheaper alternative to electric.

Changing is always more expensive!
In the case of the brakes, a hydro-boost would require at least a different power steering pump, custom hoses & fittings and drive belt. Likely more items as well.

An electric powered vacuum operated brake booster would be using a universal vacuum brake booster with an electric vacuum pump. You already have a vacuum source which is the engine. The issue will be the space available between the master cylinder and cowl for a booster. The stock one is not deep and is very wide. Universal boosters do not usually come that way. And a universal booster of any source may not fit.

Doing research, the Mark series did not get hydro-boost until later years. I believe the first model year was 1975.

If your Mark is going to be in the show, modifying the brake system will be a down grade.

Amen to that

It's not being entered as a concourse... The goal for this car is a drag and drive car for events like Hot Rod Drag Week. I do appreciate your feedback! Any help is appreciated!

Good luck.

If it were me, I woudl send out to have it rebuilt.

Did you ever find an alternative brake booster or a suitable replacement? Just curious what you were able to do. I'm also in need of the same brake booster and haven't found one yet. Thanks!
