03 Executive - L 560,000 miles

Just bought a 2003 Executive L. It has power seats but not memory. I really like the Easy-Out/ Easy Access feature in my 89 signature so I want to install it in my 03. I can't seem to find a 03 memory seat for this car and am concerned that a different year will have insurmountable chassis control module issues. I can get a fully operating memory seat with all its components from a 94 continental town car, but I don't think it has the easy-out function. The reason I'm attracted to the 94 is that the wiring diagrams I've seen do not show any connections to the chassis control module, All the wiring seems to be contained in the door switches and under the seat modules.

Has anybody here done this? Am I crazy or what?

I hate the easy out feature in mine. I want to disable it. I think it is unnecessary and just going to wear out the seat mechanism eventually.

Totally agree here. My LS had this feature and after I found the perfect spot for the seat, I unplugged the fuse for it. The Electrically Controlled Steering Wheel still moved up/down when inserting or removing the key but that part was OK. I'm glad my Lincoln Town Car does not have this silly feature.

Call me crazy, but, I like it. Has anybody ever worked on an 03 towncar with memory seats?

OK. You're crazy. LOL

Depending on year u can disable the auto roll back in/out and set ur key #1 and #2 to match your seat preset which is locate on driver door. Check owners manual for programming step by step with key

As to adding them, theoretically possible but hard. You would need the seat or at least the DSM ( Driver Seat Module ), DDM ( Driver Door Module ), the interior door panel with the required controls along with the wiring harness for the seat and door from a donor. Possible, yes, easy no. To complete the package you would also need the power pedal assembly and both left and right mirrors and associated wiring for the system to operate as originally intended and not throw error codes. Not sure but I would try to find the parts from a 2003 or 2004 model, 2005 or newer might work but there were a lot of changes that "shouldn't" prevent them from working but I wouldn't count on it.

If your lucky and your car is pre-wired that would make your life far easier but in my experience they usually don't.

As for disabling the easy out feature I know it can be done with the free FORSCAN scanner - programmer package, I disabled it on our 2004 when the motor was getting a little weak and immediately disabled the 2010 because the seat isn't working right, I suspect bad grounds or power feed but haven't taken the time to sort it out yet. I have removed, cleaned, applied dielectic grease to all the grounds under the hood to fix the bleeting horn and flickering lights on the front of the car. I have a quad note horn system from a 1992 Roadmaster to install someday too. :-)

Just about anything is possible with enough time, money and ingenuity. I have a 2008 MKS radio along with the sync handsfree system from a 2008 Ford Fusion in my 2004 Ford 150, it's a XLT with a Lariat interior swap, seats, cluster and automatic climate control, no I didn't hook up any of the memory systems on that.

My next goal is to add assist air springs inside of the coils of my 2010 Town Car, initially I intend to a stock compressor under the hood along with a solenoid valve located in the trunk and control it manually to bring the ride up to trim height. Long term is to source a air suspension/steering module from a suitable donor along with the appropriate height sensor and allow the car to do self leveling that way. Not ruling out doing a complete conversion with proper air springs in the long term if I am not happy with the ride.

03 Executive L conversion to memory seats

Well after a lot of online searching I found that the memory seats and all associated controllers are available on the Signature trim. It took a lot of doing, but I transferred the memory seats and the heated seats from a donor 03 Signature that i bought for $500. I stopped sort of messing with the memory mirrors and pedals just because I was tiring of the adventure and am the only driver. I almost decided to keep the Signature for the seats and sunroof but the funky padded roof and generally worn out everything else convinced me to just swap the seats and put in a 6cd radio out of a Mercury SUV that just needed a minor wiring adjustment.
