remote transmitter

The remote does not lock unlock the car. I checked the remote at an autozone and it transmits signal. I can start the car and lock unlock it via the keypad. What can the reason be?

Ok here is the problem. The only thing that will unlock my doors on a 2003 Town Car Executive is the number pad on the outside of the driver side door. The remote doesn't do anything it will not open the doors / will not lock the doors / will not open the trunk / will not set off the panic alarm...
