'96 town car brake lines?

I need to replace my brake lines. It is seeping under the drivers side doors. These are quite the brake lines to replace.... long and many tight quarters.


Has anyone used classic tube pre-bent lines? I am surprised they're sold as one piece to the right rear wheel. I do not see how it can be done with the body on the frame.


Any tips on this job?


How can I confirm my car has traction control? The abs has 2 lines going in and four out.

I think you'll need a lift for space to maneuver the pre-bent lines. If you've never bent lines before, buy 2, since the first one you bend probably wont turn out very well. You can also cut the rotted tube section out and just replace that area. You'll have to get a tube flair kit and connections. I tried it once but it started leaking somewhere else, so I replaced whole line. Use clips or zip ties and follow the original line.

The redneck way of finding out if you have traction control is find a sandy or muddy area (with nothing around to hit) and floor it. If a traction control light comes on the dash and it seems tires are slowing down and trying to grip, then you have traction control. Also, almost all cars have a button to turn off traction control since it is much easier to get out of a pile of snow with traction control off.

Using copper in a brake line has always been a no no.
Now there are nickel/copper alloy lines that are bendable by hand.

I have done brake lines before. Both prebent and custom. I like the idea of the prebent a lot. I do have access to a lift. But I can't find anyone who has used the prebent lines on this chassis.

I would suggest SS brake lines. I have only done a 93 F150 before using prebent SS lines; no lift. With the SS lines, they will last the life of the car. Good for you you have access to a lift, I did too but used ramps as the truck was up a bit to begin with.
