Replaced coils and plugs successfully with 140,000k after coil # 3, in back, went bad with a split in the coil. 1 mile into test drive new aftermarket #3 coil went bad, bulged, leaked and stunk horribly. Took to dealer who replaced ECM and all new coils and plugs.
Ran great for 6 month, 4,000 miles, so under warrant-parts and service. Then suddenly upon start up it ran horrible and tested as a misfire on coul 1 in back. Next day, it runs fine again.
So, back to dealer. Dealer looking at possible bad radio suppression capacitor. Guess what, the only one that comes up searching online and communicating with Lincoln parts department is DISCONTINUED. No one has it.
Evidently this $30 part if bad can literally kill your car, your coils, ECM, anything electrical.
Does anyone have a knowledgeable logical replacement option substituting perhaps an available one, perhaps rated higher. The correct part number coming up is 8A5Z-18801-B
