Does anyone use 87 octane gas,if so,any problems
Do you have an Aviator, or are you just asking?Does anyone use 87 octane gas,if so,any problems
Do you always purchase ethanol free fuel? That's quite the cost adder.87 on my 23 Aviator. I stay away from any alcohol content. Just my preference.
I've used both 87 and 91 octane gasoline, and honestly can't say I've noticed a difference except for the price. My preferred grade is 91, especially in the summer.Just bought a 2025 Aviator and asked the dealer before leaving what octane they filled it wit, they have to give you a full tank. They said they put 87 in all the cars before they leave.
Found a couple articles on a deep internet dive with the engineers behind designing the engine. They both said they run on 87 but if you’re planning on keeping it a long time, you’d be better off using 91. Then gave a bunch of technical reasons over my head.
I did try 87 on my 2023 Aviator after running 91 and two days in a row it had some very bad idling like really struggled to keep running thing. We settled on 89 now and no coughing and wheezing for thousands of miles.
Extra detergent additives are in top tier fuels, regardless of octane. Most major brands are top tier. There are other discussions about top tier on this forum.Since our 3.0 liter engine is twin turbo with high boost pressures, I've been running 93 octane premium in my '21 Aviator GT. I believe this will provide maximum performance from the engine, and the extra detergent additives will hopefully keep the injectors cleaner longer. Being a hybrid, I'm averaging mid-40's to mid-50's mpg so the extra cost of premium fuel isn't as bad.
At my station, the amount of cleaning agent called Tactrol and the amount depends upon the octane grade you select.Extra detergent additives are in top tier fuels, regardless of octane. Most major brands are top tier. There are other discussions about top tier on this forum.
Oh, Canada. At my station, the amount of cleaning agent called Tactrol and the amount depends upon the octane grade you select.

You should be able to run your vehicle with 87 octane (as the owner's manual says).Does anyone use 87 octane gas,if so,any problems
So, you added over 150hp....could you please share what you did? Have you taken her to the drag strip for "testing"?You should be able to run your vehicle with 87 octane (as the owner's manual says).
I highly modified my 2023 GT Black Label. Now I have 655 hp.
If you do any engine modifications, you should only use high test gas.
I only use 93 octane.
The 400 HP is more than enough for me. In my driving, I seldom utilize the full capabilities of the engine and have only used the 'Exite' mode a couple of times, just to see what it can do. I don't do any mods since my vehicles are leased, as you know. Also, 94 octane here costs an arm and a leg. Possibly 2 arms and a leg.Peter - you and I can pay Ford to add a bunch of HP to our cars. It's totally emissions legal and covered by Ford's warranty. The upgrade packages vary, but here's an example... RANGER RAPTOR 3.0L ECOBOOST PERFORMANCE CALIBRATION
