2023 Corsair GT
Hi,
I have a 2023 Corsair GT. I just filled up using E15, saved about .30 cents a gallon. Are there any cons I should know about?

I believe the GT recommended fuel is the same as the 2.0L ecoboost (min 87/91 or higher recommended). My '25 (ecoboost) manual states the following ...

"Note: Use of any fuel for which the vehicle was not designed can impair the emission control system, cause loss of vehicle performance, and cause damage to the engine which may not be covered by the vehicle Warranty.

Do not use:

• Diesel fuel.

• Fuels containing kerosene or paraffin.

• Fuel containing more than 15% ethanol (E15) or E85 fuel ...."

I doubt one tank of E85 will do any harm but to be on the safe side, use what the manufacturer recommends/requires.

Hi LouP. You will be fine. If you used E-15, that means the fuel may contain up to 15% ethanol alcohol. Our engines are designed to use up to E-15. No higher.

The downside to E-15 is you will get lower fuel mileage than E-10 and straight gasoline containing no ethanol.

However, as the Owners Manual quote Kevin_G provided states: Do not use any fuel with an ethanol content higher than E-15. And obviously never use E-85.

Keep us updated and good luck.

Regular gas is going for about $2.85/gallon. I saw a gas station "Sheetz" selling E-15 for $2.49/gallon.

bbf2530 ... thanks for clarifying that. I read my manual incorrectly to read "don't use E15"

Hi Kevin_G. Yes, it is actually worded in a somewhat confusing way.

Good luck. 🍻

Hi LouP. Yes, that is the case.

The very short story, without getting into chemical science, ethanol subsidies, petroleum subsidies etc.: Apples to apples, E-10, E-15 fuels will cost less per gallon than 100% gas, because ethanol costs less to produce than gasoline.
However, due to the energy producing content of ethanol being lower than gasoline, ethanol fuels will also provide lower fuel economy/mpg’s than 100% gasoline.
So it is a balancing act.

Good luck.
