Has anyone had any problems with auto hold releasing without pressing the gas or manually releasing it?

I haven't had it release on its own, but I've noticed that it's a lot more sensitive to very slight pressure on the pedal than I'm used to in other cars.

Hi Tglover and welcome to the Lincoln Forums. No, but I also don't rest my foot anywhere remotely near the accelerator. Not saying you are inadvertently pressing the pedal, but it is something for everyone to be aware of.

As ChuckL stated, it does not really take a press of the pedal to release...only a slight touch/pressure.

If you still feel there is a problem, schedule a service appointment, or have it looked at on your next routine service visit.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

Agree ChuckL, it is super sensitive to the lightest touch in my opinion. Love it though. Certainly a nice to have in heavy traffic.

It was one of the first features I turned OFF. Found it too intrusive. Where I live heavy traffic isn't an issue and on the rare occasion I do find myself in traffic, I'd rather just brake and release and let the vehicle creep forward on its own.

Still awaiting delivery but, after test driving, I plan to do the same. I found the release to be a little abrupt/jarring. Only a little but not silky smooth.

Are you confusing Hill Start Assist with Auto Hold? Auto Hold is not ON unless you turn it ON.

I guess I misstated my post. I guess I should have said I leave it OFF. I must have turned it ON to try out when I first got my Aviator. That was over 3 years ago. ;) As for Hill Start Assist, we don't have any hills in my area. I couldn't tell you which state that feature is in. I don't think I ever checked.
Thanks for mentioning it though.

Sure thing.

It works fine for me and one of my favorite features. Gives my foot a rest. I’m very rarely in heavy traffic and most of my driving is around town. It took a bit to get used to because I was hitting the accelerator too hard, but now I can gradually accelerate from a dead stop.

So can I by taking my foot off the brake. :ROFLMAO:

So, if you don't like or use the feature, why are you commenting in a thread about potential issues with the feature?

I just wanted to add my opinion on the feature. It happens all the time on different forums. It also allows you to get different perspectives on issues. Who knows, someone may come up with a reason for me to change my thinking. :)

Okay, true enough.

Thank you all so much for replying. I have never had an issue before until this past Tuesday. I was in a drive thru and had auto hold on. I had both feet relaxed and away from the pedals. I looked down and when I looked back up, I was rolling. Of course, I panicked and accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake  and rear ended the couple in front of me. I do not recall hitting the gas at all. Maybe I accidentally tapped it to make it roll?? I honestly have no clue. What I do know is that my feet weren't near either pedal

The only issue I ever had with that feature was going through a car wash. Have to remember to hit neutral button twice.

Navigator manual actually has a note to make sure to turn Auto Hold off before going through a car wash.

Same language exists in the '21 Aviator manual.

If you can come to a stop by a VERY light pressure on the brake pedal, auto stop might not engage. So if you let off brake it will roll.

This thread is on the Auto Hold, not the Auto Start/Stop. ;)
