Good Afternoon,

I am new to this forum as I have just purchased a brand new 2022 Lincoln Aviator and was wondering if there is something I need to enable or turn on to have this occur. To be more specific of what I am speaking of is when you put the vehicle in reverse the passenger side mirror tilt's down so you can see the line for reverse parking. Thank you.

Welcome to the Forum.👋
I have a 2020 Aviator and the reverse tilt is not an available option that I'm aware of. I don't know if that changed for the 2022, but if it has that feature, it would definitely be covered in the Owner's Manual. I personally don't see the benefit of the feature. I use those small 2" convex mirrors on all my vehicles. Have been for over 50 years. Properly placed they allow you to see the rear wheels without losing the overall image in the mirror.
The attached is from my 2011 Explorer.

I just downloaded the 2022 Aviator manual and there is no mention of a reverse tilt mirror feature.

Is it an advertised feature for the ‘22s? I have it in my other vehicle but turned it off because it tilted so much, it was harder to back up. Does your ‘22 have the 360º camera? You should be able to see the parking lines via the side cameras as soon as you put the gear in reverse.

My 6 year old Honda has this option so not sure why the Lincoln does not.

Neither the 5th nor 6th gen Ford Explorer have it either.

Both 2000 Continental and my 2000 Towncar Cartier edition had this feature. I have not noticed it on my 2022 Reserve but I am going to check it out tonight!

Изучал комплектацию авиатора, продаваемого в Китае. эта функция там активна, но отключена в США. Его можно активировать с помощью ноутбука. Это не должно быть проблемой.

So I checked out the Vehicle / mirror settings today on my 22 Reserve and there is not an option for tilt down mirrors in reverse.

You can check this hidden menu at IPC

I wonder if the tilt is not available due to the vehicle having folding mirrors?

this is a simple, yet beautiful function to have. yet, for some reason neither ford nor lincoln gives it to you. i've had both the explorer and now the aviator and i really do not like that it does not have it. my jeep did. my 12 year old porsche does. my three benz' do. and one is a 2003!

This is not a feature I have ever looked for in a vehicle. It is interesting that when this topic has come up, people say they had it in other vehicles and seem to indicate that not having it is so egregious they may not ever buy another Lincoln.

Interesting.

So, you sound like a real Porsche and Mercedes fan.

Welcome!

I have never had the feature nor do I think I'd want or need it. Those small 2" stick-ons have worked for me for 50+ years and you don't lose the overall perspective of the rear view. I believe the Aviator may have it since, as I mentioned previously, my specs show it is "disabled".

Hi Black Label. Thank you.
Yes, I like nice things. I’ve had some niggly things with the Aviator but it’s a lovely machine. I will say, though, that the dealerships for Lincoln (here in Ontario) don’t quite get it that they have a luxury brand. They have a lot to learn from Porsche and MB.

I agree on that unfortunately.

I tried to enable this function in the car configuration, but it did not work for me
