lock and fob issues

Junior Member
Hi, so I have 2014 Lincoln MKS. My husband changed the battery on the fob and now it only works if you put it in the glove box. I told him the use the panel on the side of the door to lock the door. it is cold here in Chicago and now snowing. The panel will not light up for him to put the code in. Not sure if it is all one issue or two separate issues. Any suggestions would be great. Do I need a new fob? Also he said the key in the fob does not work on the door. This car was bought used. Thanks
