I wanted to PM a member, but I can't find how to do so.

Do you need a certain amount of post first?

I know some forums require X amount of post to PM members.
Hello. Sorry for the trouble. It's a combination of a few different things. Posts, amount of time you're here - and other participation. It's an unfortunately necessary thing because we get a lot of spammer. It shouldn't be long before your account is automatically given the permissions to use the direct messaging system...

I completely understand. That's how most of the forums operate because of the same issues.

I updated the procedure in your cruise control thread as:
1. Click the icon left of envelope ;
2. in the menu on left click Preferences;
3. in the menu on left click Signature;
4. enter your info for your car or whatever in the box provided;
5. Click save at bottom of info box.

I hope this fixes your signature.

When you are able to send a PM, it will be because you tried to send one and were successful.

So to send a message:
1. Click on the envelope icon;
2. A small dialogue box will open just below;
3. Click on the message "start a new conversation" in bottom right of box;
4. A large dialogue box opens with Recipients in the top box;
5. Start typing the member username and a list of possibilities will appear below;
6. Click on the one that you want;
7. Enter the title and enter the message;
8. There are a bunch of options at bottom of dialogue box that include "Start the conversation" which sends the message (the PM).

I sent you a PM.

Still no luck. There is not a box for me to enter a signature.
