Hankook tires on 2019 - 2020 Navigators

Im not going to replace the Hankook tires on my car right away either but in about a year or two I will replace them with Michelins I feel from my experience that the Michelin tires will ride much better.

I used to be a Michelin fan. The Generals perform as well (for my type of driving) and give a more comfortable ride for about $100 per tire less.

The reason I bought my 2018 Navigator Premier was the 20 inch standard rim and tires. I didn't want the 21 or 22 inch rims that offer you no sidewall protection for your rims. It rides quieter than the select reserve and black label due to the larger sidewall tire. I am getting ready to turn over 60,000 miles with my Hankook tires . I have been pleased with the tread wear. The 20 inch size is the most common tire size on the market. I am able to get a new set of 80,000 mile bridgestone installed with road hazard and free rotation at Costco for $850.00 .

I guess I wouldn't think to immediately replace the factory tires with new tires anticipating a better ride. I'm really sensitive to a lot of things, but I don't think ride based on the tire manufacturer is one of them.

Not disputing the notion that Michelins may be better, just saying I don't anticipate being unhappy with my Navigator based on Hankooks.

I was looking at their website and am interested in going with a 275-50-22 its about an inch difference in tire size and should help with the ride quality! I was looking on Michelins site and they offer a tire in this size.

I agree the 20 inch rim would be better but im not ready to buy custom rims for my new truck this truck was over 100,000 list and I have other things I need to take care of but down the road 1-2 years I am definitly going to try the 50 series tires and if I still dont care for them Ill get 20 inch tire package.

Just saw pics of 2 Navigators at the LA auto show. Looks like the 2022 will have Pirelli Scorpions.

Well it’s about time I always thought the Navigator should have come with Michelins!

My 2008 Expedition had the Pirellis. I liked them, but then again, I can't tell that Hankooks are as horrible as people around here say they are.

I was blown away at how poor the factory Hankook tires are. Any type of moisture/snow and the rear end would not hook up, utterly unsafe at any measure.

Getting these Pirelli SCORPION AS PLUS 3 XL 285/45R-22 installed Monday.

ANYTHING is better than the factory garbage tires....

Okay, cool.

I mentioned above the 2022 appears to have the Pirellis.

How are the new tires, need to replace the Hankooks…
Good, but I had no issues with the Hankooks. I am in tune with a lot of things but can't tell the difference from tire to tire.

Just replaced the Hankooks with Michelin Defenders and for me the ride is much improved, smoother and quieter.

We just have a difference in our opinions. As I stated in my first post,"IMHO" - In my humble opinion....it was the Hankooks that were on my Navigator that caused the rough ride. I had Michelins put on my Navigator this past weekend and the ride is significantly better. The Navigator is driven mainly by my wife and she complained about the ride a couple of weeks after we took delivery. I drive it some on the weekends and I agreed with her. My daily ride is a 2019 Lexus ES with Michelins and it rides great. My fun car is a Dodge Charger Hellcat widebody with 20" rims and low profile, wide Pirelli P-Zero tires that ride rough....but I expected that when I bought it. I didn't expect the Navigator to ride as rough as it did....but it doesn't anymore since I changed the tires.

To answer the other question about driving the Navigator on cement highways at higher speeds....yes I did and the ride was just a little better, but still not what I expected from a near $100K vehicle. I have already driven it on the same highway with the Michelins and the ride is better....IMHO. My wife is now satisfied and that's all I care about. I only wanted the Navigator with the trailer tow option so I could pull my boat. My wife couldn't have cared less about the utility purpose of Navigator.

I think this post has run it's course.
I agree 100% that the hankooks are trash and just bought new tires
